Thunderstorm Showdown

Thunderstorm Showdown - Wizard-only PvP battle royale. One spell, one arena, and the last storm standing takes the prize.

Hosted by: Auto-runs on a schedule (and on demand by GMs) Sign-up NPC: Thunderstorm Herald — Prontera (147, 191)

Event Overview

The Thunderstorm Showdown is a Wizard-only PvP battle royale. All other skills are locked — only Thunder Storm works on the arena maps. Damage is brutal and HP regen is sealed off, so positioning and timing are everything.

When the storm rolls in, every signed-up Wizard is warped to a randomly chosen arena. Each arena has its own movement speed (some are fast, some so slow you can practically feel the rain), so no two matches play the same.

"The arenas are quiet... for now." — Thunderstorm Herald

How to Join

Walk up to the Thunderstorm Herald in Prontera at (147, 191). When registration is OPEN you'll see a green status and the current signup count. Pick Sign me up to enter.

If the event is idle, the Herald will tell you how long until the next run.

Requirements

  • Class must be High Wizard

  • Base Lv 255 and Job Lv 120

  • One entry per account and one entry per IP — alt accounts and same-network duplicates are blocked at signup

  • Short cooldown between signups (so you can't queue back-to-back without a break)

The Rules

Once you're inside an arena, the gloves are off:

  • Only Thunder Storm works — every other skill is sealed by the arena's mapflag.

  • No item use — potions, fly wings, branches, anything you'd normally lean on is locked.

  • Thunder Storm hits hard. Damage is high and HP regen is sealed off (see below), so a clean hit will usually finish a fight in short order — even if it isn't a true one-shot anymore.

  • No passive regen. A status (SC_NORECOVER_STATE) keeps your HP from creeping back up between casts.

  • No returns. No teleport, no warp, no memo, no save point shenanigans.

  • Wide AoE. Thunder Storm covers a generous area, so standing in the open is asking for it.

Match Flow

  1. Registration window opens — server-wide announcements ping every minute or two.

  2. When the timer runs out (or enough players have signed up), everyone is warped to a random arena and frozen for a 5-second countdown.

  3. STORM! the freeze releases and the fight begins.

  4. A center-top countdown ticks down the match clock for everyone to see.

  5. Match ends when one Wizard remains or the timer hits zero.

AFK Watch

If you park in one spot for two minutes the arena marks you AFK, announces it to the map, and warps you out. You'll forfeit any reward for that match. Walking around, casting, repositioning between casts — all fine. You only get flagged if you genuinely stop participating.

Timeout = No Winner

If the timer runs out with more than one Wizard still alive, the match is declared a draw — no winner is crowned and no winner prize is handed out. The announcement reads: "Time ran out. No survivor." This is intentional — camping doesn't pay.

Tips for the Storm

  • Keep moving. Standing still gets you both killed and marked AFK. A step between casts is enough.

  • Watch the speed. Each arena has its own movement speed — on a slow map your Thunder Storm placement matters more than ever.

  • Wait for them to commit. Thunder Storm has a cast time and a delay before it lands. If you cast first and they sidestep, you eat the next one.

  • Spread out. Wide AoE means clustering up is suicide. Take a corner, take a flank, force them to come to you.

  • Don't suicide for the survival coin. Dying in the first 60 seconds gives nothing — you have to actually engage.
